Critical Warning: PlantorNOT is an AI-powered tool that attempts to identify plants using image recognition and web search. Results are NOT guaranteed to be accurate and should NEVER be used as the sole basis for consuming, touching, or interacting with unknown plants.

Mushroom Warning

NEVER eat wild mushrooms based solely on AI identification. Many edible mushrooms have deadly look-alikes that even experienced foragers can confuse. Only an expert mycologist can safely identify wild mushrooms. Misidentification can be fatal.

1. Acceptance

By using PlantorNOT, you agree to these Terms.

2. How It Works

PlantorNOT is a client-side web application. You provide your own Groq API key. All processing happens between your browser and Groq's API. There is no PlantOrNOT server.

3. NOT Expert Botanical Identification

PlantorNOT is NOT a substitute for:

A trained botanist or mycologist
A veterinarian (if your pet ingested a plant)
Poison Control (call 1-800-222-1222 if a person or pet ingests a plant and shows symptoms)
Professional plant identification field guides
The ASPCA Poison Control hotline for pets (888-426-4435)

NEVER eat wild mushrooms, berries, or plants based solely on AI identification. AI identification can be wrong — similar-looking plants can range from harmless to deadly.

4. No Guarantees

Plant identification may be inaccurate due to:

Blurry or poorly lit photos
Young seedlings that haven't developed distinguishing features
Rare regional varieties not well-represented in training data
Plants that are intentionally deceptive (e.g., mimicry in nature)
Mushrooms (many deadly species look nearly identical to edible ones)
AI misidentifying leaves, flowers, or bark patterns

An "Identified" result does not guarantee the identification is correct. A false identification could have serious health consequences for people or pets.

5. Your API Key

You are responsible for your own Groq API key and its usage.

6. Prohibited Uses

You agree not to use PlantorNOT for:

Making foraging or consumption decisions without expert verification
Replacing professional veterinary or medical advice
Automated bulk queries or API abuse
Any purpose that violates applicable laws

7. Limitation of Liability

PlantorNOT is provided "as is" without warranties. We are not liable for:

Any health consequences (human or animal) from acting on identification results
Inaccurate or incorrect plant identifications
Missed toxicity warnings or safety information
Any decisions made based on tool results

8. Emergency

If you suspect a person has ingested a toxic plant, call 911 or Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 immediately.

If you suspect a pet has ingested a toxic plant, contact your veterinarian or call the ASPCA Animal Poison Control at 888-426-4435 immediately.

Do not rely on PlantOrNOT in an emergency.
